More breath support exercises
Remember, the better your breath support, the better you will sing.
1) Paper on wall. See how many seconds you can hold a one inch square of paper against the wall just by blowing on it; ie the only thing holding it there should be the stream of air. 8 seconds is good.
This exercise helps show that there is a certain minimum level of pressure needed to initiate good tone, but that once achieved that effort only has to be maintained, it doesn't have to be continually increased.
2) Counting on one breath. Sing numerically out loud, counting one per second, on one breath, at any comfortable pitch. 25 seconds is good.
This develops control and finesse, but is a long term project.
